shit magnet was recorded in a flat in manor house in london in 1996... i had done a medical experiment that had paid me 300 quid so i was able to buy a 150 quid four-track recorder, a distortion pedal, a microphone and a tamborine... i was in bizzness... i had been writing about 3 to 5 songs a day around this time, and that was more to do with the fact that i was so poor that i had nothing else to do with my time... i was working in a movie theatre 3 days a week and the rest of the time i just walked about with my tape walkman or wrote songs in my flat... this album came together quickly... it's got all the "hits" on it, shit magnet, alive, good angel/bad angel... at this stage i was recording music purely for myself, with no intention of ever putting it out for anyone else to hear... that old saying' it was the best of times/it was the worst of times' could not have been truer for this period of my life... this record and the the girl with 1000 boyfriends and cacphony albums would be time pieces for me to oneday look back on and get chills... thinking about what once was... i have no real photos from this time... those albums are all i really have from my time overseas... credits
